If there’s a word to describe the past year and a half (has it really been that long?), it has to be vulnerable. Vulnerable to the ever-changing COVID regulations, to the risk of infection, to a changing work environment and economy. Vulnerable. Yet in a position of vulnerability we can either surrender or adapt - and I think most of us adapted to the circumstances quite well. We swapped the conference room for Zoom and our old routines for new hobbies, all while slowing down after what might’ve been years of haste. So where do we go from here?


Here in New York, it seems as though we’re at the crossroads of pandemic and “normal” life, stuck - albeit blissfully - between working from home and socializing maybe even more than before. Though this return to normalcy is certainly long-awaited and thrilling, I’m hoping that we don’t lose all aspects of our time at home. 


I hope we continue to prioritize quality over quantity, whether that be in our personal or professional lives. For the first time in a long time, we were removed from our personal life and forced to look at things on a larger scale. I hope that we hold onto that perspective and use it as a constant reminder that we are fortunate, that there is always someone that has it worse, and that they can use our help.
